Learning, Connecting, and Growing in Costa Rica
Earlier this year, our team-building lead Andrew, together with Carlos, had the opportunity to represent Reshapers at the annual Catalyst Sales Meeting in Costa Rica. For four action-packed days, they connected with partners from all over the world, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, the USA, Italy, Australia, Ireland, Portugal, and more.
But beyond the agenda and the activities, this trip was about something deeper: learning from others, gaining new perspectives, and returning home with fresh ideas to reshape the way we approach team building in Curaçao and beyond.
Global Connections, Fresh Perspectives
One of the biggest insights came from Canada, where the approach to team building is refreshingly flexible. Instead of being bound by a three-hour standard format, Canadian partners showed that if a client only has an hour over lunch, they make it work, and make it impactful. For Andrew this was a true “aha” moment, opening up new opportunities for how Reshapers can tailor experiences to different client needs.
The Eco Pyramid: Teamwork Meets Sustainability
A standout activity was the Eco Pyramid, which felt like a sustainable evolution of activities we already know and love. Similar to Flat Out Afloat, which uses cartons, the Eco Pyramid emphasizes eco-friendliness by reducing waste. At the same time, it carried elements of Big Picture, where smaller teams each work on a piece that ultimately comes together as one. The beauty of the Eco Pyramid lies in its message: it’s not just about teamwork within your group, but about collaboration across all teams to achieve a bigger goal.
Sharpening Facilitation Skills
The trip also offered a refresher on facilitation, which went beyond revisiting the basics. Andrew and Carlos learned new ways to keep an audience engaged, not just through what you say, but how you say it. Varying tone, energy, and explanations became a tool in itself to hold attention and drive engagement. The session also reintroduced a wide variety of activity options, showing how different goals can be reached by the end of a team-building experience.
And the cherry on top? More Augmented Reality (AR) activities were added to the toolkit, giving Reshapers new and exciting options to bring back to Curaçao.
A Fun Fact (with a Costa Rica Twist)
Did you know that synchronized movement can actually improve team bonding? Research shows that when people move together, whether through dance, exercise, or coordinated activities, it creates a stronger sense of unity.
In Costa Rica, this wasn’t just theory. As part of the new icebreakers introduced during the sessions, Andrew and Carlos got to experience synchronized movement firsthand. A simple, playful activity turned into a reminder of how small, physical actions can spark connection across cultures and languages.
Beyond the Agenda
Of course, no trip to Costa Rica would be complete without stepping into its stunning nature. For Andrew and Carlos, the highlight was ziplining, an experience that brought them face to face with the country’s lush greenery and breathtaking ecosystem.
With new skills, fresh inspiration, and a deeper appreciation for how team building is evolving globally, Andrew and Carlos returned to Curaçao ready to reshape the way we connect teams, one meaningful activity at a time.
